Custom AISI 321 Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Fabrication – Laser Cutting, Engraving & Welding

Rollyu Precision provides sheet metal fabrication services using AISI 321 annealed stainless steel, suitable for parts that require corrosion resistanceheat stability, and reliable structural performance. Common applications include dental dewax tray weldmentssterilization trayssurgical instrumentsdental implants, and components for endoscopic and orthopedic devices.

Our in-house equipment includes CNC-controlled laser cutters and welding systems, which allow us to produce parts with accurate edgesminimal burr, and reduced thermal distortion. Laser engraving is also available for marking and traceability, widely used in both medical and industrial environments.

In addition to medical applications, we also serve clients in aerospacebiomedicalautomationfood equipment, and high-temperature machinery, where AISI 321 is preferred for its performance under elevated temperatures and oxidizing conditions.

Our services cover the full production process—from laser cuttingbending, and welding to surface treatment and assembly. Rollyu Precision operates under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 standards, with attention to detail at every stage.

Material Selection Choose high-quality stainless steel (typically AISI 304 or 321 annealed) with excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for repeated autoclave sterilization.
Laser Cutting Use CNC-controlled fiber lasers to cut the flat tray pattern and ventilation holes with tight tolerances. This ensures consistent dimensions and minimal heat-affected zones.
Bending/Forming CNC press brakes form flanges, handles, or lid integration features while maintaining smooth edges and precise angles critical for secure stacking and usability.
Deburring & Edge Finishing All edges are manually or mechanically deburred to remove sharp burrs and ensure user safety. Surface smoothing may be applied for enhanced handling.
Laser Engraving (Optional) Permanent laser marking is applied to add part numbers, logos, or UDI/QR codes for traceability without compromising material integrity.
Surface Treatment Passivation or electropolishing enhances corrosion resistance and surface hygiene—important for medical-grade compliance.
Final Inspection & Quality Control Each tray is inspected for dimensional accuracy, edge quality, engraving clarity, and finish using tools like CMMs, micrometers, and visual inspection standards.
Packaging & Cleanroom Handling (Optional) For sterile environments, trays can be ultrasonically cleaned and packed in ISO-certified conditions before shipping.

FAQ

Why use medical-grade stainless steel for dental sterilization trays?

Medical-grade stainless steels like AISI 304 or 316 are chosen for their excellent corrosion resistancebiocompatibility, and ability to endure high-temperature autoclaving and chemical disinfection without degrading. These materials ensure long-lasting hygiene, strength, and compliance with dental equipment standards.

What benefits does laser cutting provide in tray fabrication?

Laser cutting offers:

  • High-precision edgesfor custom cutouts, slots, and mesh patterns
  • Burr-free, clean finishesthat eliminate sharp edges and reduce post-processing
  • Design flexibility, allowing complex geometries for specific dental tool layouts
It enables consistent quality across large production volumes.
What can be achieved with laser engraving on sterilization trays?

Laser engraving allows for:

  • Durable, non-fading identification(e.g., QR codes, lot numbers, UDI marking)
  • Custom logos or brandingfor dental manufacturers and clinics

Instrument placement guides or labeling etched directly into the tray surface
The marks are permanent and withstand repeated sterilization cycles.

Can the trays be customized for specific dental instruments or workflows?

Yes. We offer fully customizable tray designs based on your CAD files, sketches, or samples. Features include:

  • Instrument-specific cutouts
  • Hinged or stackable designs
  • Perforated or solid bases
  • Optional handles, latches, or silicone inserts for protection during transport and sterilization
How is quality controlled during fabrication of medical-grade trays?

We follow ISO 13485 and ISO 9001-certified manufacturing processes, including:

  • Material traceability (MTCs for stainless steel)
  • Visual and dimensional inspections
  • Surface finishing (e.g., passivation, electropolishing, Zirconia oxide/yittrium oxide thearmal barrier coating)to enhance corrosion resistance
  • Optional CMM inspection reportsand batch serialization upon request
