Manufacturing Process for Rapid CNC Prototyping Services

DFM Review & Quotation Analyze 3D CAD files (STEP/STP/IGES/SolidWorks),
assess manufacturability, tolerances, materials, and provide cost/time estimates.
Material Selection Choose suitable materials like aluminum (6061-T6, 7075), stainless steel (304, 316L, 17-4PH), titanium, or engineering plastics (PEEK, Delrin, Ultem) based on functionality, biocompatibility, or mechanical demands.
Toolpath Programming (CAM) Generate CNC toolpaths using advanced CAM software to optimize speed, tool life, and surface finish. Includes strategies for 3-, 4-, or 5-axis machining.
CNC Machining Execute CNC milling or turning operations to create complex geometries with high precision. Machines may include 3-axis, 5-axis, or mill-turn centers for parts with undercuts, slots, or tight tolerances (±0.01mm or tighter).
Post-Machining Operations Includes tapping, threading, reaming, deburring, and polishing. Ensures functional fit and smooth edges for cleanroom compatibility or visual requirements.
Surface Finishing (Optional) Apply anodizing, passivation, bead blasting, polishing, black oxide, or laser marking depending on application needs and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 13485, RoHS).
Inspection & Quality Control Perform dimensional checks using CMM, optical comparators, and thread gauges. Verify material certificates, tolerances, and documentation per ISO 9001/13485 standards.
Packaging & Delivery Cleanroom-compatible packaging, anti-static or moisture-proof wrapping as needed for sensitive components. Delivered with full traceability reports if required.

FAQ

What materials are available for rapid CNC prototyping?

We offer a wide selection of materials, including aluminum (6061, 7075), stainless steel (304, 316, 17-4PH), titanium, PEEK, Delrin, Ultem, and more. These materials are commonly used in medical devices, robotics, photonics, and diagnostic equipment for their durability, biocompatibility, and thermal performance.

What tolerances can you achieve for medical and high-tech parts?

We routinely hold tight tolerances of ±0.01mm, and in certain cases, ±0.005mm depending on part geometry and material. These tolerances are ideal for surgical tools, sensor housings, and robotic joints that require high-precision performance.

How fast can I receive my CNC prototype?

Lead times typically range from 3 to 10 business days after design approval and material confirmation. We also offer expedited services for urgent projects, especially for functional testing or clinical validation in fast-moving R&D cycles.

Are your prototyping processes ISO certified?

Yes, Rollyu Precision is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 certified, ensuring our CNC prototyping workflows meet the strict quality and traceability standards required for medical and high-tech industries.

Can you support bridge production or low-volume runs?

Absolutely. In addition to prototyping, we support low- to mid-volume production using the same CNC platforms, allowing a seamless transition from prototype to production. This is ideal for pilot runs, clinical trials, or niche equipment builds.
